Larna Grossi,

Founder, President

Email: petsofnewengland@yahoo.com

Larna Grossi is a lifelong resident of Rhode Island, spending the better part of her life in Smithfield. She has been an advocate for spay/neuter education for animals all over New England. She was involved in legislation, banning the gas chamber in Rhode Island in the last remaining shelters. She spoke on behalf of the importance of embracing and appreciating foster care parents, when legislation for a 3 cat minimum was imposed on one of the local towns. She has been actively involved in trapping, spaying/neutering and safely releasing feral cats all over Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts for the last 10 years.

Larna has been involved in the North Providence Animal Shelter for over 15 years. She has been a volunteer and advocate for each animal in the shelter, assuring that they get a safe, loving home. She has been recently hired as one of the Animal Control Officers and is enjoying being more involved in the aspects of the shelter as an employee. She is involved in maintaining the health of shelter animals and scheduling veterinary appointments when needed. Each spring and summer she bottle-feeds dozens of litters of orphan kittens, socializing and weaning them to insure they can be adopted into loving homes.

As of October of 2003 she has also taken on the role of Volunteer Coordinator at North Providence Animal Shelter. Interviewing and insuring suitability for each volunteer, and training each of them in shelter policies, protocols and safety.

As of December of 2004 she has also started and oversees the Foster Care Program at North Providence Animal Shelter. This program is vital to having the animals socialized. She maintains and keeps record of all animals in Foster Care and all of the Foster Care individuals.

Larna has implemented a new computer filing system which maintains all of the towns spay/neuter updates in compliance with Rhode Island General Law and the Department of Environmental Management. She also maintains Petfinder.com for the shelter's animals that are suitable for adoption. These weekly updates are vital to getting the shelter animals adopted into safe, and loving homes.

She is also a huge advocate for pitbulls and opposes and educates on BSL (Breed Specification Legislation).

Larna currently shares her home with her fiancé, and their 16 cats. All her cats are indoors only, spayed and neutered, inoculated and most importantly safe, happy and healthy.

Larna's favorite quote which she tries to live by is....

Have a heart that never hardens
A temper that never tires
And a touch that never hurts.

~Charles Dickens

     Webmaster, Jess Trabulsie

"I just want to send a big thank you out to Jess Trabulsie, my friend and web designer, who without we could of not had this website. Jess worked daily with me for months via email to make the dream of an informative and educational PETS of New England site, a reality! Jess listened to my wishes and fine tuned each and every detail that was put onto the website. She was patient, very patient. She continues to update information for me as needed, without hesitation. For all of her tireless efforts I wish to thank her from my heart from myself, my board members and all of the stray animals, feral cats and responsible pet owners we have helped. Thank you Jess!"
